Incident-1
14-year-old girl Nasima (alias) reads in 10^th grade. She met a young man on Facebook and started an affair from there. After sometime the two decided to meet. Nasima went to meet the boy on the special day and date. After chatting with him for a while the boy took her to a house, raped her then left her at the hospital in a miserable state. Her family had to rescue her from there.

Incident-2
Oishy- an 18-year-old daughter of an established banker in Dhaka. She met a guy on Facebook who happens to be a son of an ordinary security guard. Later, they spoke over the phone; and after some days met each other. Few days later the guy asked her to come at a residential in the city. After she went there, the boy raped her, took away all her jewelries and possessions. After he left, Oishy committed suicide, hanging from a ceiling fan; thinking about her own reputation, her family’s honor. It was later found out that the guy had done the same thing- pretending to love then raped and looted- to 12 other girls, as well.

Incident-3
A university student Bhakhtiar- a good looking young man- whose father was a laborer but now is bed ridden due to paralysis. Because of the family pressure and responsibilities, his older brother had to leave his studies and works in a garments factory in Gazipur. Therefore, since the huge amount of money required cannot be provided by his family he came up with an innovative idea and pay for his bills!

He went into a relationship with a 15-year-old teenager Rita. A simple innocent and emotional girl saw him as her lover. But Bakhtiar always said, ‘I belong to a poor family. You will leave me the first chance you get. You don’t love me.’ Rita always tried to explain that it is nothing like that and she loved him genuinely. But he kept her saying these things to make her feel emotional. Then one day he said, ‘Okay, I will believe you. If you send me your nude pictures.’ That innocent girl, didn’t even realize it could be a trap! In honest faith she send him her nudes on Facebook.

Now that Bakhtiar had her nudes, his intentions changed! He sent those pictures to her inbox and said, ‘My next semester fee is due and I need 200,000tk for that. And I also have your pictures. You know what to do!’ Rita understood about the blackmail and replied, ‘How would I get so much money at once? Can I pay 10,000tk every month?’ But Bakhtiar didn’t agree. He asked her to steal money and jewelry from her home and give it to him, or he will release the pictures on the internet. She got really scared. So she stole 12 carats of gold from her mother and gave it to Bakhtiar. The jewelries were real original gold from Qatar and Bakhtiat got 291,000tk selling those gold.
Meanwhile when her parents couldn’t find the jewelry they, it caused a severe marital dispute of her parents. When the situation was turning worse, she confessed about the whole thing to her parents. And they informed the law enforcement authorities.

The police said, Bakhtiar had saved those pictures in his Gmail and Yahoo accounts, so it cannot be removed completely. They also recovered further nudes of another girl from his laptop, alongside, some intimate pictures with 5 or 6 girls. He, later, accepted that he had done all these things to pay for his tuition fees and other bills.

This stories of deceptions in love in social media, have become quite common in our society. And the prime victims are the children and teenagers. They think this love in emotional and mental but it’s not. It’s rather biological and physical.

Scientists have no doubt about this anymore. A research was conducted by Geoffrey Miller of University of New Mexico, regarding this. 18 professional lap dancers, who earn through lap dancing in various bars and strip clubs of Mexico, participated in his experiment. Each on the women earn differently on different nights. For example, one might earn 800 dollars at one night but 150 in another.

Actually Miller wanted to see, whether a woman is earning more during her menstrual periods or on other times. As we know, a girl is more beautiful, attractive and lovely during the normal times when she is ovulating due to a hormone called estrogen, than on the times when she in menstruating.
 Miller noticed that the dancers earned twice as much when they were ovulating than they were menstruating as she looked more beautiful t that time. Now the thing is, the guys who are attracted to her don’t know when is she ovulating or menstruating, then how is this happening?
Actually the main reason is the biological and chemical reaction rather than emotional or mental attachment.

Even the mutual attraction after selecting the respective partners also depends on this chemical reaction. The hormone that makes this happen is Oxytocin. It was tested on a group of men who recently fell in love. The amount of Oxytocin was increased in their body and it was found that the men’s feelings for their respective partners increased alongside, a fall in attraction towards other women. They consciously stayed away from them and maintained a distance even when they had to work with the other women.

Now the thing is, why is it happening? Why does the nature want this to happen? – For the children’s well being. A child needs her mother the most but it needs his/her father as well, to grow up. Therefore, the hormone is released in both men and women so that the mutual attraction stays this way.

However, due to the social media and other sites like this, i.e. the virtual virus seems to be causing confusion in those hormonal secretion as well….
